Attorney: Settlement reached in Singing River Health System pension battle
Attorneys tell WLOX News a settlement to resolve the Singing River Health System pension fund dispute has been reached. If a judge signs off on that agreement, some retirees will get the money they’re owed.
According to attorney Jim Reeves, the settlement deal involves Singing River Health System to pay all monies it failed to deposit from 2009 until 2014 plus interest. It also includes that no retiree will pay any attorney fees or expenses, those are to be paid by Singing River.
According to Reeves, the settlement deal says current hospital trustees must resign allowing new leadership, and a special fiduciary will be appointed to protect pension holders.
