So, with Democrats now gaining a foothold in the neighboring red state, is there a sign that Mississippi Democrats will one day be able to better compete on a statewide level here? With the retirement of executive director Rickey Cole, the party will be getting new leadership to build a pathway to regain lost ground.

As they say, time will tell.
