Lt. Governor Tate Reeves gets endorsement from Pharmacists

By: Magnolia Tribune - September 16, 2015

The Mississippi Independent Pharmacies Association today announced its endorsement of Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves’ re-election bid.

The MIPA represents more than 180 independent pharmacies in towns across the state.

“Independent pharmacists need elected leaders who know what it takes to grow a business in our towns,” said Tony Waits, owner of Hudson Drugs in Prentiss. “Tate Reeves understands small businesses and the important role pharmacists play in providing quality health care to Mississippians.”

MIPA with Lt. Gov. Reeves’ support was instrumental in passing Senate Concurrent Resolution 670 by former Senator Terry Brown recognizing and encouraging the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to recognize pharmacists as health care providers and as an integral component of health care and patient care in the state of Mississippi.

Lt. Gov. Reeves’ has always supported the fact that independent pharmacies receive prompt pay and correct reimbursements, and have a fair regulatory environment.

“Many times, pharmacists are first medical professional Mississippians turn to with questions about their health,” Lt. Gov. Reeves said. “It is important we adopt policies that help these small businesses grow and thrive on Main Street. I appreciate their support.”
