U.S. Dept. of Ed suspension data challenged by Mississippi schools

To misleading data that paints a worst picture than actual reality. When researchers at the University of Pennsylvania released a study of U.S. Department of Education statistics showing suspension rates of public school students, comparing rates of African-American students with the overall rates, Mississippi was listed among the most disproportionate for disciplining. But when a Columbus school called out the data claiming a lack of context and an error in reporting, other Mississippi districts also pulled numbers to show the original data was faulty, resulting in the study’s findings to include number of students suspended.
