Last night, the challenger in the Insurance Commissioner’s race made a startling revelation on Facebook. He admitted on Facebook that he had indeed voted in the Democratic Primary in the 2007 and 2011 statewide elections.
His justification for voting Democrat was supporting former Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillan, who was in fact a candidate in 2007 and 2011. In his facebook post (below), he stated, “I vote Republican unless I truly believe in a candidate running otherwise.”
His justification somewhat falls apart, though, as Hinds County voting records also showed that he voted in the Democratic primary on 3/11/2008. Since 2008 was a federal election year, the only races on that ballot were for President, Senate and House. That means that, according to his own logic, he felt strongly about voting in a primary that included Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Edwards, Erik Fleming and Bennie Thompson. Given Mosley’s explanation of his 2007 and 2011 votes, will he explain his 2008 Democratic primary vote? With Mosley having already commissioned a push poll against Mike Chaney about Obamacare, it looks awfully difficult for his campaign to sustain his voting history given that he may have in fact actually voted for Obama in the 2008 primary.

He also mentioned in his admission that he struggled about whether or not to run for Insurance Commissioner as a Republican or as an Independent (as he did when he ran for mayor of Clinton in 2005).
As we documented recently, Mosley has some very deep trial lawyer connections as well as a closeness to Democratic incumbent Attorney General Jim Hood.
Mosley’s Republican bona fides and his actual intentions for running as a Republican are now clearly in question.
