Cochran doesn’t sign Iran letter, prefers more cautious approach

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 11, 2015

Cochran does not sign Senate letter to Iran

Cochran said the nuanced and sensitive nature of the administration’s talks with Iran require a more cautious approach than the one represented by the letter.

“I think taking one step at a time and making one decision at a time is a better policy than trying in one sentence to describe what the policy is or ought to be,” he said.

Cochran also said the administration understands the threat posed by allowing more countries to acquire nuclear weapons.

“I think everybody understands we’re not going to just sit back and let potential adversaries put us in a position where we can’t defend ourselves and protect our country’s interests,” he said.
