Mississippi congressional candidate arrested
Eli “Sarge” Jackson, the Reform Party candidate for the seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, said Thursday the arrest was the result of a May 19 altercation between his daughter, Colesha Jackson, and him.
Jackson, 57, was arrested Monday on a simple domestic violence charge. He was released from Forrest County Jail Thursday morning on a $1,000 bond.
According to the Hattiesburg Police Department incident report, the altercation occurred between Eli Jackson and the victim (name redacted) about 9:40 a.m. on May 19 at a mobile home next to his Hattiesburg home.
In the incident report’s narrative, the victim claimed “Elisha shoved her in the center of the chest to keep her off of the property. And Elisha continued to push her until she fell on her back on the front concrete porch.”
The victim stated Eli Jackson left the scene after the incident. She also showed the police officer who responded to the call a scratch on her left hand, which she said occurred during the altercation.
