Is Cochran/Childers race tightening?
A recent CBS/New York Times poll shows incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran still leads Democratic challenger Travis Childers, but by a smaller margin that previous polls.

The poll, from Sept. 20-Oct. 1, shows Cochran with 46 percent; Childers, 35 percent. A CBS/NYT poll four weeks earlier had the margin at 15 points, now at 11. A July poll by Public Policy Polling reported Cochran at 41 percent, Childers at 26 percent.
