Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) said extremist group ISIS could be defeated with “minimal ground troops” if the U.S. assists allies in the region.
Such a strategy, Wicker said, would involve weakening the group’s financial network and working with local armies to dismantle ISIS.
“[W]e can stop ISIS with minimal ground troops if we engage and assist the Iraqi, Kurdish, and the Free Syrian armies,” Wicker said.
The Mississippi Republican said the Obama administration has, so far, not done enough to combat ISIS.
