Wicker talks business issues in Meridian
New healthcare laws and the increasing number of business regulations are on the minds of business owners in Mississippi and elsewhere. And hearing about those concerns is on U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker’s (R) mind as he uses the August break from the U.S. Senate to meet with constituents.
At Mitchell Distributing in Meridian on Friday, Wicker described the visit as part of his listening tour.
“In my opinion, our taxation system doesn’t make us real competitive internationally,” Wicker said. “A small business like Mitchell Distributing has to deal with not only the IRS, but they are subject to OSHA inspections, certainly everything that takes place in Treasury, and now that Obamacare has been designated by the Supreme Court as a use of the taxing power, the way that Obamacare affects small businesses is a concern here.”
