Mississippi Senators Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran back counterdrug training

Senators back Counterdrug Training

Washington, D.C. Mississippi’s Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran, along with a bi-partisan group of other senators, are speaking out in favor of funding counterdrug training centers around the country.

Appropriations for five such facilities is not included in the president’s fiscal year 2015 budget.

The Regional Counterdrug Training Academy (RCTA) at NAS Meridian has been in operation since 1992.

The senators wrote a letter to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, saying the training provided to law enforcement officers is a key to maintaining homeland defense. They ask Hagel to reverse the decision and continue the mission with funding at current levels.
