AT&T gifts 4Cs with $10K to enhance programs, outreach to needy
Clinton’s nonprofit helping-hand agency for the city’s needy is getting a big boost from AT&T Mississippi: a $10,000 donation to fuel programs that include a food pantry, thrift shop, services to the elderly, and financial assistance to low-income residents in crisis.
The Clinton Community Christian Corporation accepted the check from officials including AT&T President Mayo Flynt and Randy Russell, the utility’s executive director for external affairs, during a presentation on Monday. State Rep. Philip Gunn, who serves as Speaker of the House, asked AT&T to consider the 4Cs when making donations to organizations doing good work in their community.
“I’ve always been a participant in the 4Cs’ mission, and believe they provide a tremendous ministry in the Clinton area,” said Gunn, a Clinton resident. “It’s a mission worthy of support.”
The 4Cs, a United Way of the Capital Area agency, operates a thrift shop open six days a week, plus maintains a food pantry for families having trouble making ends meet. The nonprofit also operates a local Meals on Wheels program and receives senior citizens on-site every day for socialization, group activities and a nutritious lunch.
“We like to support worthy organizations that work in the community, and the 4Cs has a track record for doing a lot of special things for people that need help,” Flynt said. “The 4Cs collaborates with other agencies to bring their resources together.
