McDaniel Urges Sen. Cochran to Vote Against Budget-Busting Omnibus

Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Chris McDaniel Tuesday urged Senator Thad Cochran to vote against the $1.1 trillion omnibus bill that eradicates the budget cuts established by the sequester and increases federal spending.

The $1.1 trillion omnibus lays out a detailed spending agreement based on the Ryan-Murray Budget Act of 2013. It increases federal spending $63 billion above the budget caps set by the Budget Control Act of 2011.

“With our national debt spiraling out of control, it is an abdication of leadership to support a spending bill that eliminates previously agreed upon budget restraints and increases our debt,” McDaniel said. “Sadly, over his 30 years in the Senate, Sen. Cochran has played a role in our deficit crisis, voting to increase the debt limit at least 10 times. I hope Sen. Cochran will do the right thing and vote against this disastrous spending bill.”

Chris McDaniel is a constitutional conservative running for United States Senate. He represents District 42 in the Mississippi State Senate in his second term where he fights for individual liberty, free markets and fiscal responsibility in government.
