Human cloning ban among first bills filed in Mississippi Legislature

A glance at some bills filed on the first day of the 2014 session of the Mississippi Legislature:

CLONING — House Bill 43, by Rep. Jeff Smith, R-Columbus, would ban human cloning. It also would prohibit shipping and receiving embryos created by human cloning.

DRUG TESTING — House Bill 49, by Rep. Sam Mims, R-McComb, and House Bill 86, by Rep. Mark Formby, R-Picayune, would require drug testing of some people receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, a proposal supported by Republican Gov. Phil Bryant. House Bill 89, by Rep. John Moore, R-Brandon, would require random drug testing for Medicaid recipients.
