Glitch limits Mississippi insurance exchange enrollment
Software connectivity trouble between one of Mississippi’s providers and the state’s federally run insurance marketplace is a primary reason enrollment is low, says a document from an agency overseeing the exchanges.
According to a white paper dated Oct. 24 from the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, one provider in Mississippi was having trouble with the Unified Rate Review Template, an electronic document all providers must complete to offer qualified health plans under the exchange. Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney, who gave the paper to The Clarion-Ledger on Thursday morning, confirmed the provider referred to is Humana. A Humana spokesman said the company couldn’t confirm the contents of the paper.
“We are not aware of that,” Mitchell Lubitz said.
A spokeswoman for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which has purview over CCIIO, said the agency is aware of the issue and is working to fix it, but did not offer a timetable for doing so.
