Rubio and Barbour attend D.C. fundraiser for Branstad

Just two of the big-name Republicans listed on an invitation for Terry Branstad’s fundraiser in Washington, D.C. made it to the event tonight.

An all-star team of eight national GOP’ers – including several potential 2016 presidential candidates – agreed to help raise money for Branstad, the governor of politically important Iowa.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour attended the fundraising reception at the Capitol Hill Club.

But U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas began a marathon argument against Obamacare on the Senate floor this afternoon, and was still talking when the reception was finished tonight. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky both had last-minute scheduling problems and had to skip, aides told The Des Moines Register.
