Ware raises, spends more than DuPree
It’s been a busy fundraising month for Mayor Johnny DuPree and his election opponent Dave Ware.
Since a judge declared a special election Aug. 16, the two mayoral candidates have raised close to $190,000 combined, with Ware outpacing his opponent at a 2:1 rate.
Those numbers come from mandatory campaign finance reports filed Sept. 17.
Ware has raised nearly $130,000 and DuPree $60,000 since the judge’s ruling, consistent with the massive fundraising advantage that the independent challenger has enjoyed this year over the incumbent mayor.
