Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, Vice Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, will be the keynote speaker for the annual Mississippi Democratic Party Jefferson-Jackson-Hamer Dinner. The dinner is the state party’s signature annual fundraising event, and will be held at the downtown Jackson Marriott on the evening of Friday, August 9. The opening receptions will begin at 5:30 PM, with the dinner beginning at 6:30 PM. Members of the press are welcome to attend. Please call Will Godfrey at (601) 969-2913 for press credentials.

“We are delighted to welcome Mayor Rybak to help us honor our elected officials at this year’s Jefferson-Jackson-Hamer Dinner. We are paying special tribute to our newly-elected and re-elected municipal officials who did us proud in the June elections, and our strong Democratic legislators who have been fighting the fight on the front lines at the Capitol. All the major leaders of our party have committed to attend the dinner, including Congressman Bennie Thompson, Attorney General Jim Hood, House Leader Bobby Moak, and others.. Awards will be presented to some of our most dedicated Democratic activists and leaders. It will be a truly memorable evening, and we are expecting a crowd of several hundred” said Rickey Cole, Chairman.
