Is Gov. Bryant helping implement Obamacare in Mississippi?

Gov. Phil Bryant on Thursday announced the state was giving $1 million to help a company open a call center in Hattiesburg that will create up to 1,000 jobs.

But Bryant, who has railed against “Obamacare” and worked to block its implementation in Mississippi, did not point out that the General Dynamics Information Technology customer support center in Hattiesburg will be helping answer questions about Obamacare subsidized health care offered through a federal exchange.

Bryant spokesman Mick Bullock told the Associated Press, “No. The State is most certainly not aiding in the implementation of Obamacare.” He said the center’s employees will be answering a wide variety of questions about Medicare and Medicaid.

But Democrats on Friday were chuckling about it.
