Gov Phil Bryant, LG Tate Reeves and Speaker Philip Gunn comment on special session to land Yokohama

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 26, 2013

“This is an historic day for Mississippi, and we are proud to welcome this world-leader in tire manufacturing to our great state. The passing of this legislation will result initially in 500 new jobs, with the potential to create up to 2,000 total jobs, and it will have a positive impact on the state’s economy for years to come.

An official announcement event will be held Monday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. at The Ritz Theater and Conference Center in West Point, Miss. I, along with officials from Yokohama Tire Corporation and state and local officials, encourage media to attend this milestone event.

I would like to extend my gratitude to Lt. Governor Tate Reeves, House Speaker Philip Gunn and the Mississippi State Legislature for passing the proposed incentive package designed to assist Mississippi’s newest business partner, Yokohama Tire Corporation, as the company prepares to locate its second U.S. tire manufacturing plant in West Point. We would also not be here today without the overwhelming support of the City and County elected officials and the Golden Triangle Development LINK.”

Jackson, MS— “The House did a great job of quickly working through legislation that will bring thousands of new jobs to our state,” said Speaker of the House Philip Gunn. “This is a fantastic day for the people of Clay County and the State of Mississippi. From the first day we were elected, the leadership of the House has championed job creation. Once again, we have fulfilled that promise by bringing Yokohama Tire Corporation to Mississippi.”
