Palazzo to Retain Key Committee Assignments in 113th Congress

Washington, DC – Congressman Steven Palazzo (R-MS) announced today that he will retain his current committee assignments in the 113th Congress. Palazzo currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Science, Space & Technology Committee.

“My number one job in Congress is to represent South Mississippi’s interests,” Palazzo stated. “That’s why I am honored to be able to continue working on these committees, on the issues that matter most to the 4th Congressional District.”

Palazzo is one of a shrinking population of military veterans on Capitol Hill, as well as the only noncommissioned officer serving in both Congress and the National Guard. He has served on the Armed Services Committee since first being elected to office in 2010.

“We need more like Sergeant Palazzo in Congress and on the House Armed Services Committee,” House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon stated. “The Committee depends on a variety of perspectives. The viewpoint of men and women like Steven who have actually worn the uniform is invaluable. I look forward to working closely with him over the next two years.”

“Stennis Space Center has made significant contributions to our nation’s space program over the last 50 years, and Chairman Palazzo has been a valuable asset on the Science, Space & Technology Committee over the past two,” Science, Space & Technology Committee Chairman Ralph Hall stated. “I am glad he will be able to continue his work on that committee in the next Congress.”

Hall will be stepping down as the full committee chairman at the end of the 112th Congress after reaching the limits of his term. He has been a vocal advocate for maintaining America’s role as a leader in space.
