Six reasons to oppose Mississippi’s Obamacare exchange

The Obama administration announced late last week that it will unilaterally be imposing a new tax on health insurance policies purchased through health insurance exchanges run by the federal government. “The cost of these ‘user fees’ can be passed on to consumers,” reports the New York Times. The Department of Health and Human Services is setting the tax at 3.5 percent of monthly premiums, however, nothing prevents HHS from increasing the tax at any time. Given that the proposed rule is already legally questionable, what would prevent the federal government from doing the same to any state-run health exchange? At root, nothing – until the entire edifice crumbles, which is much more likely if states say no to a state-run health exchange and say no to expanding Medicaid.

Our friends at the Goldwater Institute created a short video giving six reasons states should be opposed to the insurance exchanges being set up under Obamacare. While Mississippi is saying yes, 21 states are saying no. Here’s why:
