Initial Thoughts On Gov. Phil Bryant’s Education Agenda
Gov. Phil Bryant released his education plan today at Northwest Rankin High School, alma mater of his two children.
The quick overview of his plan is this:
Improving literacy skills and ending “status-quo social promotion”
Developing and rewarding teacher quality
Investing in early childhood education efforts
Increasing school choice
Improving college and career readiness
This may surprise a few folks, but I support most of what the governor is proposing. There’s some good things here, even if they are controversial. Of course, there’s a few ideas I don’t support. We’ll start there, I suppose.
