Iuka post office dedicated to soldier killed in Iraq war
The ceremony that brought people together at the Iuka post office on Monday took second place to the people who gathered there.
A crowd of 100 or so people came to honor the memory of fallen soldier Sgt. Jason W. Vaughn, who was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on May 10, 2007.
At the request of Jason Vaughn’s mother, RaNae Vaughn, U.S. Rep. Alan Nunnelee introduced a bill – H.R. 2213 – to have the Iuka post office renamed in his honor. The bill passed the House and Senate unanimously and was signed into law by President Barack Obama on May 15.
