Boys and Girls State together?

Boys State is in progress here — a week-long, all-male camp for rising high school seniors to learn the workings of government and the legal system and to hear state elected officials speak.

Though Massachusetts has combined some Boys State and Girls State events in recent years, it doesn’t appear Mississippi organizers favor the idea. They said it’s never really come up here before, but mixing male and female students would create a host of issues, including teens being distracted by the opposite sex during the events, as well as chaperoning issues.
