Democrat to GOP party switchers: None from Jackson, George counties
JACKSON, Mississippi — None of the seven elected county officials scheduled to announce their switch from Democrat to Republican tomorrow are from the local area, according to the state Republican Party.
The closest official to south Mississippi is in the Pine Belt, in Jones County, a party spokesperson said. Most are from around the I-20 corridor, she said.
Party Chairman Joe Nosef said the event will take place at party headquarters at 415 Yazoo Street at noon.
