State lawmakers approve budget with out ‘bond bill’
Lawmakers on Sunday signed off on a state budget of nearly $5.6 billion, but remained at an impasse on borrowing for special projects, with Lt. Gov Tate Reeves announcing there will be no “bond bill” for the first time in many years.
“Last year when I was campaigning I made a commitment to voters to try to pay down the state debt,” Reeves said. “When I said it, I meant it.”
