The state Personnel Board won’t see any changes this year regarding its hiring and firing practices.
An amended version of Senate Bill 2380 died Wednesday on the House calendar.
“I didn’t have the votes,” Appropriations Committee Chairman Herb Frierson said.
The amended bill would have changed the board’s formula for deciding whom to fire to emphasize performance evaluations over seniority.
Frierson estimated he would have been 18 votes short to pass the amended bill.
