Republican presidential foes to make Miss. stops

With the primary less than a week away in Mississippi, Republican presidential candidates are zeroing in on the Magnolia State as the race takes on a Southern focus.

Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania will attend a rally at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum in Jackson at 7 tonight. Santorum also will visit Tupelo today, followed by stops in Meridian, Gulfport and Biloxi next week, according to his campaign office.

On Thursday, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich of Georgia and wife Callista will attend a rally at the Hilton Jackson at 9 a.m., followed by a 10:15 a.m. appearance at the state Capitol and a private fundraising event, said Scott Brewster, Gingrich’s Mississippi campaign chairman.
