Republicans in the Mississippi House – now the majority party for the first time since Reconstruction – are planning to meet Tuesday to discuss the direction they will take in leading the House come January. A Speaker of the House candidate could emerge on Tuesday as well.
A variety of names are being bounced around, including Phillip Gunn, Herb Frierson, and Jeff Smith; these look to be the most likely choices at this point.
Also at issue will be a House Majority Leader and other posts within the caucus. We could also begin seeing news of committee chairs in short order.
