Olive Branch hospital breaking ground

A groundbreaking ceremony for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare’s new hospital in Olive Branch will be held at 3 p.m. today.

The event will be at the site of the planned 100-bed hospital at Bethel Road and U.S. 78.

When completed, the hospital will employ more than 500 people and will join Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven as the county’s second full-service hospital.

“We are extremely grateful that Methodist Le Bonheur had faith in our community and stayed the course of time,” said state Sen. Merle Flowers, R-Olive Branch. “We have been pursuing this dream for over 10 years, and now it is coming true.”

The event is open to the public.
