Hampton – For AG candidates, politics of initiatives difficult to overcome
Voters don’t appear to be that interested or engaged in the upcoming Nov. 8 general election, when Mississippi will choose its leadership for the next four years.
What does have voters’ attention are the three ballot initiatives addressing three highly controversial issues – voter ID, eminent domain and “personhood” (abortion).
The three initiatives are political dynamite and we saw last week just how carefully those explosive issues have to be handled by the folks who will occupy the ballot with them.
AG candidates run
Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood and his Republican opponent, Steve Simpson, don’t agree on much and can be combative with one another on just about anything.
