The Mississippi AFL-CIO announced last week that it’s endorsing Democratic gubernatorial candidate Johnny DuPree, mayor of Hattiesburg.
The group praised DuPree’s platform of education and jobs. “He has shown the ability to reach out to all parts of our state and build the kind of organization that will not just compete but win a general election race.”
DuPree faces Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant in the November election. He defeated Clarksdale attorney Bill Luckett in the August runoff, and Luckett immediately endorsed DuPree.
The AFL-CIO also praised the Democrats for running a classy campaign free of mud-slinging.
