Ingalls Shipbuilding donates Point property to state for lease to Pascagoula

PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Huntington Ingalls Industries has donated 11 acres to the state of Mississippi for lease to the city of Pascagoula for continued use as a public park.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says he expects the initial terms of the lease to be for 40 years, with an extension for 25 years following that.

Pascagoula Project Manager Jaci Turner says the initial phase of development pending that lease is to install public utilities, restrooms and a fishing pier extension. After that the city hopes to build an amphitheater, boardwalk and gazebos.
