Dennis planning to heat up race
Editor’s note: The Clarion-Ledger editorial board has invited candidates for governor to discuss their campaigns. Stories will run as candidates appear at the meetings.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Dave Dennis says his campaign will get more aggressive in the final days leading up to the Aug. 2 primary.
“We are in that environment,” he said during a meeting Tuesday with The Clarion-Ledger editorial board.
Dennis, a Pass Christian businessman, will roll out new ads in the coming days. He also implied he plans to take more jabs at frontrunner Phil Bryant at campaign events.
“I always see myself as an underdog,” he said. “(But) if I didn’t think I was the best guy, I never would have gotten in the race.”
