Barbour: No endorsements in Miss. GOP primaries
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Gov. Haley Barbour says he’s not publicly choosing favorites among the Republicans competing for statewide offices in Mississippi.
Barbour tells The Associated Press that he and his wife, Marsha, cast absentee ballots last week in Yazoo City, in advance of the Aug. 2 party primaries.
In a phone interview Tuesday from California, where he’s traveling on state business, Barbour wouldn’t disclose who got his vote for governor, lieutenant governor or other offices.
The governor chaired the Republican National Committee in the mid-1990s, and would only say that he and his wife voted in the Republican contests. He says he’s not making endorsements in the primaries.
