State’s budget: A $62M surprise
Though Mississippi ended the budget year Thursday with nearly $62 million more than anticipated, state officials say they remain cautious about the budget outlook for the future.
“While this is welcomed news, we will continue to face great budget challenges for the new fiscal year,” said Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant, who chairs the state’s Joint Legislative Budget Committee.
Gov. Haley Barbour’s spokeswoman Laura Hipp said the governor’s office is monitoring the figures.
