Insurance adjuster – We need less government in insurance
I am a licensed insurance agent, licensed adjustor and owner of Gary Smith Agency here on the coast. The COASTAL Act was listed in our paper this morning.
This is a bad idea and here is why. First and foremost, it is not needed. The wind-vs.-water is a claim-adjusting issue, and all we need is for the federal government or state government to clarify how a claim will be adjusted during a wind and water event.
Note: Any water, including storm surge is a flood event. See the definition of a flood at the end of this letter.
We don’t need more government regulations. We need how the claims are going to be paid defined by law so there can be no doubt and no misunderstanding. Wind pays up, flood pays down.
