Luckett Grateful for Speaker Billy McCoy’s Service

CLARKSDALE, MS. — Bill Luckett, Democratic candidate for Governor, today thanks Speaker McCoy for his years of service to the state of Mississippi.

“Speaker McCoy is a leader. His service in the Mississippi House, especially his time as Speaker, has had a tremendously positive impact on our state. Speaker McCoy, through his dedication and hard work, has improved the lives of all Mississippians,” Luckett said. “I thank Speaker McCoy for over three decades of commitment, leadership and service to his fellow Mississippians.”

First elected to the legislature in 1979, Mississippi’s Speaker of the House, Billy McCoy, announced Wednesday that he would not seek re-election. He has represented House District 3 for 32 years, and served as Speaker of the House for his last two terms.
