Barbour’s lake house under water in Miss. floods
Gov. Haley Barbour has fallen victim to flooding from the swollen Mississippi River.
The first floor of a lake house in Yazoo County owned by the Mississippi governor, a Republican, is under water.
Some of the worst flooding in Mississippi so far is in the area from Vicksburg northeast to Yazoo City, Barbour’s hometown, which sits along the Yazoo River. That river flows into the Mississippi.
WLBT, a TV station in Jackson, Miss., reports that Barbour tried to keep the floodwaters at bay with sandbags at his house in Wolf Lake, but to no avail. Other homes in the area are submerged.
