Reasons Barbour chose to stay out
Gov. Haley Barbour’s decision not to seek the Republican nomination for president can’t be considered a total surprise, although his frequent flier miles to major caucus sites suggested otherwise.
When he said in his statement that he didn’t have “fire in the belly” to launch a presidential run, that was only part of the story. The rest Barbour will probably keep to himself and never disclose to anyone outside a tight circle.
And since Barbour has yet to fill in the blanks about his decision, he’s left himself wide open for pure speculation from people like me. So why didn’t Barbour run?
