Greenville Mayor to challenge Bennie Thompson
Heather McTeer Hudson, the Democratic mayor of Greenville, has filed papers to run in the 2012 Congressional race in the Second District. Rep. Bennie Thompson is currently serving his ninth term. Thompson, also a Democrat, has given no real indication that he is planning on retiring at the end of his current term.
Hudson is seen as an “up and comer” in the Mississippi Democratic Party and was mentioned as a 2011 statewide candidate; something she obviously decided against.
