Harper endorses troop funding bill

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 8, 2011

Dear Friend,

As Speaker John Boehner continues to negotiate a resolution to the fiscal year 2011 budget impasse, House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers of Kentucky has introduced H.R. 1363, the “Department of Defense and Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act, 2011.”

This troop funding bill includes federal resources for the U.S. Department of Defense to operate through September 30, 2011, the remainder of FY2011. Additionally, this legislation provides one week of funding authority for government agencies to operate at $12 billion below current spending levels, keeping the budget on track to roll back spending to FY2008’s pre-stimulus, pre-bailout levels.

It is imperative that Congress support our men and women in the Armed Forces, both at home and abroad, by advancing this legislation. I continue to support significant reductions to government spending and believe that Congress must restore fiscal integrity to our nation’s pocketbook.

God bless,
Greg Harper
