The Honorable William J. McCoy
Mississippi House of Representatives
Mississippi State Capitol
Jackson, MS
April 6, 2011
Dear Mr. Speaker:
When I received your letter regarding the blog posting you saw, I was flabbergasted.
I did not manage Judge Jones’ confirmation process or any other judicial confirmation
process during my time in the White House. I had no role in any judicial appointments or
confirmations. I hardly know Judge Jones, and I have only said “Hello” to her two or
three times in my life. I’ve never talked to her about any matter pending in any federal
court. More specifically, I have never spoken or otherwise communicated with Judge
Jones or any other judge about the pending Mississippi legislative redistricting case.
Frankly, I’m surprised some blogger would impugn the integrity of our federal courts and
a senior judge based on zero facts. But then again, I don’t accept at face value everything
I read in a blog.
Sincerely,
Haley Barbour
