POLITICO – Henry Barbour – Haley got date wrong, not event
Speaking of misremembering, in passing on the Clarion-Ledger’s suggestion that Martin Luther King Jr. never spoke in Yazoo City this morning, I forgot my own reporting on this: The New York Times described a King speech in Haley Barbour’s home town in 1966.
“The simple fact of the matter is, Gov. Barbour misattributed the year Dr. King spoke,” said his nephew and political aide, Henry Barbour, in an emailed statement.
