Open meetings bill goes to Miss. Gov. Barbour
JACKSON — State senators sent Gov. Haley Barbour open meetings legislation Monday in what Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant and Sen. Merle Flowers, R-Olive Branch, called one of the best days ever for transparency in government across Mississippi.
Senators had approved the legislation in January, but House members made minor changes before approving it later.
The Senate, whose members cast no dissenting votes on Monday, agreed to those alterations to keep the measure alive.
