Ward 1 council candidates study in political contrasts
Take a look at the campaigns of Quentin Whitwell and Patricia Ice, and you might find it hard to recognize that they are running for the same office.
Tuesday’s special election for the Ward 1 City Council seat presents voters with two candidates, but the choices are clearly defined.
Whitwell, 38, is a Republican, Oxford native and a University of Mississippi-graduated lawyer with well-defined political aspirations.
His campaign started long before Ice entered the race and has reported more than $49,000 in contributions for a seat that pays $25,000 annually.
