Palazzo names deputy chief of staff, opens offices
Congressman Steven Palazzo has named his deputy chief of staff and announces the opening of two district offices, one in Hattiesburg and one in Gulfport.
“These offices represent part of my effort to be accessible to the people in our district. My staff is here to assist constituents in getting the help they need – whether that be in cutting through the bureaucratic red tape of federal agencies or sharing their perspective with me on legislation before Congress.
“I hope anyone who needs assistance will contact their nearest office and let me know how I can help,” he said.
In addition, Palazzo named Jamie Miller of Gulfport as his deputy chief of staff to oversee operations in the district.
“I am pleased to have Jamie on the staff to help me serve the people in the fourth congressional district. His experience and expertise will add a unique perspective,” Palazzo said. “It was important to me that I hire the right person for this position – I wanted someone with a direct link to the community and who understood the challenges we face. I am glad to have him on my staff.”
“I am honored to represent Congressman Palazzo here in South Mississippi. I grew up in Gulfport, attended college in Stone County and Hattiesburg and worked with community leaders along the coast in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. I look forward to assisting Congressman Palazzo strengthen the economy throughout the district,” said Miller.
“The Congressman is committed to creating jobs and serving as an advocate for economic development in our district while at the same time ensuring we are good stewards of our natural resources. As the Congressman has said, we need to restore the people’s faith in their federal government by making it accountable to its citizens. That will be our primary goal,” Miller added.
Miller will work out of Congressman Palazzo’s Gulfport district office. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and has more than 13 years of experience in leading community development, disaster recovery and environmental management. He has served as a coastal ecologist for the state’s Department of Marine Resources, deputy city manager for the City of Pascagoula and policy advisor for Governor Haley Barbour following Hurricane Katrina.
