John Caldwell gains endorsement in Transportation Commission race
Caldwell and Tagert are both Republicans, though the special election to fill the seat was nonpartisan because there was no primary.
The seat was left vacant after Commissioner Bill Minor of Holly Springs died of a heart attack in November.
Caldwell and Tagert finished first and second, respectively, in a seven-candidate field in the Jan. 11 special election. Since neither received more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff was required.
