The four main gubernatorial candidates at this time got the ball rolling on Monday by announcing their candidacy for governor on the first day you could qualify. There were no surprises, but they wasted little time.
Billy Hewes also wasted little time in announcing his candidacy for lieutenant governor. Of course, he has been saying as much for months so he had no reason to wait. Tate Reeves is almost certainly also going to enter the race, but he has never been open about it as Hewes was. According to a Clarion-Ledger story on Hewes’ announcement, Reeves is expected to announce his bid “in the coming weeks.”
